Naoto Matsumura – Guardian of Fukushima animals

This page was created to honor 52 year old rice farmer, Naoto Matsumura and his efforts to save the animals in Tomioka, Japan, inside the “No-Go” zone. Mr. Matsumura is the last man to remain in the area and stays to feed and care for the animals.

We see 52 year old Naoto Matsumura, a fifth generation farmer as the “Guardian of Fukushima’s Animals”. While others have been forced out of Fukushima’s 20km exclusion zone due to radiation dangers from the TEPCO Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, Naoto-San has chosen to ignore Japanese law and remain behind to care for the animals.
