The STS Lord Nelson is one of the world’s most extraordinary tall ships — a proud three-masted barque built to enable people of all physical abilities to sail, learn, and thrive together. Designed for inclusive sail training, she has helped countless individuals discover confidence, teamwork, and adventure.

Every donation goes 100% to the restoration effort: This platform does not charge fees and our crew are volunteers, meaning donations go directly to the ship for repairs and upgrades where they are needed most! No office, staff or overhead, we are pirates of compassion on a mission for the Planet!

THE BACKSTORY: For years the Sail Training Ship Lord Nelson — the world’s first tall ship designed to enable people of mixed physical abilities to sail side-by-side — stood idle and deteriorating after her decommissioning in 2019 and an extended period in port languishing.

Originally designed by Colin Mudie, built at James Cook Shipyard in Wivenhoe for the Royal Jubilee Trust and fitted out at Vosper Thornycroft, STS LORD NELSON was built to carry up to 40 crew and to be fully accessible for a mixed ability crew.

GOOD PIRATES was formed to return this remarkable vessel to action with a bold new mission: to restore her as a platform for marine conservation, humanitarian outreach, sail and seamanship training and zero emission wind powered transport. Where the ship once trained sailors of diverse abilities, she will again carry crews to fragile ecosystems and remote island communities, blending tall-ship journeys with impact and proving that voyaging under sail can serve both people and planet.

Right now, a crew of veteran sailors, engineers and volunteers have started reactivating and restoring the much loved STS LORD NELSON TALL SHIP TO ITS FORMER GLORY.

She is passionate about living a present, balanced and authentic life, with a healthy dose of humor! She loves to travel the world, explore new places, people and food, but equally loves to retreat into silent solitude. She is a writer who follows a hidden path, into an unfamiliar world. If you just surrender and go with her on her eerie journey, you will find that you have surrendered to enchantment, as if in a voluptuous and fantastic dream. She makes you believe everything she sees in her fantasy and dreams. But as well you take a journey to the frozen mountain peaks of the north of Europe, to the crowded sweating streets of Mexico or Africa. Her characters are wonderfully real and wholly believable perfectly situated in her richly textured prose. She’s a lovely person and she writes with exquisite powers of description! She’s simply great!
