Although I could not reach Gangotri to admire the peaks of the Himalayas, in Rishikesh, I found the Peace of the senses! After an exhausting journey by taxi from Delhi, arrived in Rishikesh the calm and relaxed atmosphere has enveloped us in its enthralling beauty.
If it wasn’t for my brother’s back problems, the stay was idyllic. Long walks along the Ganges, enjoying a selection of vegetarian specialties, meditating and letting yourself be carried by the time… which elapsed too quickly.
I think that karma, gave us the emotions that we would not have had if we had ventured towards the north, as I initially projected.
In Rishikesh, we met some really special people who, like us, follow a profound spiritual path. A couple of them are writers (Conny Larsson and Judith Bourque), who have personally experienced yoga and meditation in contact with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, better known as the “guru of the Beatles” and founder of Transcendental Meditation. Others (Hatzy Joyce and Francesca Pinoni) are concerned as well with holistic therapies which a are a priceless source of happiness and wellbeing but as well one of the ways to connect with the Divine Energy… Thanks also to Dr. Satinder Rusetra Ayurveda & Panchkarma Centre, who was for us available 24 hours a 24, directly in the structure.
As I stated initially, many times in our life’s, karma plays a decisive role: the problem in the back of my brother, made us also meet Dr. Brian Siddhartha Ingle, an osteopathic physician who gave yoga classes (Somatic Movement Education) during the IYF. The “magic” of his intervention on my brother’s body, has left both without words. I think that this specific type of “movement’s therapy” may be also taught in Ticino, to the benefit of many people who suffers from various problems that the normal therapies (sometimes invasive both from a somatic and drugs point of view) fail to bring relief (see more at this page).
…oOo…

/ March 17, 2017I love all the photos. They show such a variety of life during your adventure. I was really interested in the Somatic Movement Education as my husband has a bad back and I’ve been suggesting yoga for a while. A little research is in order. Lovely post. ❤
