The Ocean Cleanup has developed the world’s first feasible method to clean up half of the so-called Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 10 years’ time. But how many tons of garbage will be cleaned up? In order to determine the amount of plastic in the patch, we are organizing the largest ocean plastic expedition in history. During August this year, we will be crossing the Garbage Patch from Hawaii to California, with up to 50 boats in parallel. And you can be part of this historic event.

Of course this is not an usual sailing’ cruise… it’s a kind of volunteering different from what you imagine! But has its inherent scratching charm… is there anyone among you skippers who want take me on board?
I do not think my acquaintances in Ticino (southern part of Switzerland) are willing to make first crossing of the Mediterranean, the Atlantic and then go from Panama to climb diagonally to Hawaii…

Il Ocean Cleanup ha sviluppato il primo metodo fattibile per ripulire la metà del cosiddetto “Great Pacific Garbage Patch” in 10 anni. Ma quante tonnellate di immondizia sarà ripulita? Al fine di determinare la quantità di plastica nella “patch”, stiamo organizzando la più grande spedizione oceanica nella storia. Nel mese di agosto di quest’anno, attraverseremo il Garbage Patch dalle Hawaii alla California, con un massimo di 50 imbarcazioni in parallelo. Voi potete essere parte di questo evento storico.

Certo non si tratta di un usuale crociera in barca a vela… è una sorta di volontariato diverso da quello che ci si immagina! Ma ha il suo fascino intrinseco e graffiante… c’è qualcuno di voi skipper che vuole prendermi a bordo?
Non credo che i miei conoscenti ticinesi sono disposti a farsi prima l’attraversata del Mediterraneo, dell’Atlantico e poi passare da Panama per risalire in diagonale fino alle Hawaii…

Dear Lina, unfortunately here I can do very little… many people who have left their “likes” even don’t read or look at the images I put in the post.
Others dislike to look at the true, since it doesn’t affect them directly right now… who cares about the future of the next generations?
Paradoxically many people think that after life there is “nothing more” but a sort of waiting room to the final judgement! Selfishness and a sort of fatalism… but this is teached in the families and at school. I see things under another angle or point of view. Following the buddhist philosophy, there is much more to discover about our immortal Mind and the reason of our presence here.
The respect we ought to our beautiful planet shall be without limits! It’s not a matter of being directly confronted.
I wish I had someone inviting me to join into this Crociate on her/his ship… I dearly wish to be able to do something “materially”…

Grazie per il tuo pensiero… purtroppo sono in pochi ad avere questa sensibilità. Siamo distratti da ogni piccola cosa, da ogni insignificate nullità… e ci scordiamo di ciò che veramente è importante: la nostra Casa – il Pianeta Terra!!!
