Australia is in the grip of a nationwide bushfire emergency. Can you help us save wildlife, and protect and restore their native bushland?
URGENT APPEAL: Across the country, over 10 million hectares of Australian land has been burned to the ground. Over 1 billion animals have lost their lives so far, including thousands of koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, birds and other iconic wildlife. Your support is urgently needed to care for injured wildlife and restore their homes.
It’s estimated that as many as 8,400 koalas have perished in fires on the mid-north coast of NSW and Kangaroo Island in South Australia has lost over 50% of their koala population This is a devastating blow for an iconic species already in decline, and these bushfires have the potential to hasten koalas’ slide towards extinction in eastern Australia.

Il tuo supporto è urgentemente necessario per prendersi cura della fauna selvatica ferita e ripristinare il loro habitat.
Si stima che ben 8.400 koala siano morti negli incendi nella costa centro-settentrionale del Nuovo Galles del Sud e nell’isola del Canguro nell’Australia meridionale abbia perso oltre il 50% della popolazione di koala. Questo è un colpo devastante per una specie iconica già in declino, e questi incendi boschivi hanno il potenziale per accelerare lo scivolamento dei koala verso l’estinzione nell’Australia orientale.

è davvero triste pensare ai milioni di animali morti, molte specie sono davvero sull’orlo dell’estinzione. Ora cercano di rilanciare il turismo, ma la tragedia di quest’anno rimarrà per sempre. Prima che i boschi ritrovino il loro splendore passeranno generazioni e generazioni, per non parlare di quelle specie animali che forse un giorno vedremo solo sui libri.

una vera tragedia quella degli incendi australiani. Quello che rattirsta maggiormente è la perdita significativa di fauna selvatica ad opera di piromani incoscienti.
Cosa meritano dei piromani che uccidono più di un miliardo di creature viventi?
A mio avviso, nell’ottica di dare un segno forte e un avviso pragmatico, li metterei legati tutti assieme davanti all’Opera di Sidney… cospargerei di benzina… e ci appiccherei fuoco!
Non ci sono altre soluzioni, in quanto vi saranno altri bastardi che emuleranno le loro gesta… lì, altrove, su tutto il pianeta.
Sono orribilmente ammareggiata e temo che la legge (basta vedere il comportamento del primo ministro Scott Morrison) non applicherà sanzioni o prigione a vita.
Questi sono situazioni nelle quali dovrebbe esserci la pena di morte.

Ja, Wirtschaft umbaumen, und nicht nur Australien, das jetzt durch Brandstifter und Selbstentzündung in einem Chaos steckt (ich weiß nicht, wie viel Prozent der einen und der anderen sind).
Alle sogenannten Industrieländer müssen ohne weiteren Aufschub handeln; aber schaust Du die sinnlosen Diskussionen im Davoser Forum an! Die einzige, die wirklich beschäftigt ist, ist Greta (die Rotkäppchen in der Höhle der ausgehungerten Wölfe).

There are not enough coherent words to express the feeling of profound discomfort that one feels when looking at the images of this ecological catastrophe.
I await a confirmation for the volunteering that we will do between July and August in Australia (I think I have already mentioned it on your blog).
Being here, and watching and reading, is of no comfort but only increases the pain.

I live on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand, well over 2000 km from the burning east coast of Australia. Sometimes our air smells of smoke and the day takes on an eerie orange hue. We watch helplessly, bearing witness to the tragedy of our friends. The toll on the wildlife has indeed been catastrophic. I am glad to have ‘met’ you Claudine 🙂 Pauline
Dear Pauline, nothing is happening “by chance” there is quite a few peculiarities bond to our presence here, and since I do believe in reincarnation, I’m certain that peoples meet sometimes, by the most strange ways and situations.
I can feel your sorrow by looking without being able to help. It’s the same for me. I cry looking at the pictures or YouTube… and then, suddenly, not just by causality, someone told me about this NGO…
I’m waiting to receive a confirmation for volunteering in Australia next July/August for 3 weeks. One NGO from the city of Lugano is trying to organize this expedition to give what we can give: love, help, emotional sustain. Even I’m not a firefighter, I’m positive there is something I can do… If everything turns out positively, I’m ready to help to plant trees or giving some hand to vets.
For now, as so far, I send you a huge hug. Please stay tuned and pray that it will work out because we’re concerned about visas and the decision of the immigration’ office of AUS.

Terrible. Hard to imagine the scale of the fires, a continental ecosystem damaged so badly.
Each of us is involved, even if more than 22 hours of flight (without considering any stopovers) separe Switzerland from Australia.
We can do little where we are, if not send money and actively participate in fund-raising.
But Australia and the torrential heat above 40 degrees celsius is only the tip of the iceberg. And there are still ignorants who do not believe in the climate change and imminent danger to which all, and I mean ALL of us, are subjected.
Thank you for spreading greater “ecological” sensitivity around you… every little step in this sense is precious.
Reduce inorganic waste, avoid the use of plastic, do not feed on food of animal origin, or at least drastically reduce consumption, try not pollute avoiding transport that creates CO2… but the list is long.
