Brutality without limits how can you call this “sport” a passion ???
Brutalità senza limiti come si può definire questo “sport” una passione???
Publisched: Corriere del Ticino Sept. 14th, 2019
In the press you can find many articles that praise the value of this “discipline”, emphasizing its importance at national level as a means to regulate the populations of wild animals, mainly ungulates.
In Switzerland there are almost 29,000 hunters (of which 5,000 are only in Ticino) and in recent years there has been a very marked increase in the percentage of women. One of the new fanatics of this pseudo-sport, she also released a baffling interview where she tells of the beginning of her passion at the age of 6, following her hunter father. Then continuing with hallucinatory utterances with a fluency of speech as a preacher against ethics as well as not very sagacious, in order to show off, she exposes herself in that way, in fact making herself ridiculous.
I asked myself a couple of questions, after reading about the Setter killed by a shot of a hunter who had mistaken him for a boar, of the deadly fall of an old man or 25-year-old who was hit in the hand.
It is to be prayed that no other incident occurs (at the time of writing was not yet known the very serious fact of Pedrinate, e.n., see page of the Mendrisiotto ) although there will be many animals that will be brutally killed and for them there will be no one crying.
But a news that shows strong courage and is a demonstration of sensitivity towards the protection of the ecosystem, is that of the Honorable Claudio Zali, who takes sides with the ailing species (for example the white partridge). We need politicians like him, people who do not let themselves be bent by the diktat of federations or groups that think only of the interests of a few and not those of the 350,000 (non-hunters) residing in the canton of Ticino. It is not a question of dialogue because the party in question does not want to hear reasons.
Actually, this article was written and sent to the Newpaper few days earlier… When I read about the new fatal accident, I saw myself projected into the G.G. Marques’ novel “Chronicle of a death foretold”. Distressing. Very sad. And on the website of the Ticino Hunters Federation it reads: “We hope that all hunters and their families can live their passion with serenity”. What will the president of the Ticinese hunting federation Efrem Regazzi report in one of his next speeches? It seems paradoxical “to live one’s passion with serenity” when someone has died.
How can you explain that (every type of weapon) can kill? And not just animal preys that can’t defend themselves!
